I've forgotten now who said it and when, but I remember hearing in Mass the other day that prayer should be comprised of praise and petition. So here is my prayer.. one of praise and of petition.

+Lord God, I thank you and praise you for all of your Goodness. You alone are my God; you alone do I love. Thank you for the many blessings you have bestowed on me, in my friends, family, and co-workers. Thank you for my full-time position. Thank you for a boss who is not only patient and kind, but easy to talk with. Thank you too for making him funny - that really makes my days feel like less of a drag when I'm having a rough time of it. Thank you for my new intern position. Thank you for my friends, whom I love so much. Thank you especially for H. Bless and guide her always in your great love. Protect her in her travels and in her daily life. Petition and Thanksgiving

We pray in thanksgiving that Matt was able to make it back to his wife in time for the arrival of their third child. They (and we) were really hoping that he would and he did. Thank you, Lord, for making this possible. We ask now that there are no complications with the delivery, for mom or baby. We also ask, Lord, that this time of transition be as easy as possible on the children. They have moved once already and I'm sure moving overseas will be a little harder. Please keep them in your care and comfort them by your presence. May the knowledge of your love keep them strong as a family. And, if you wouldn't mind, give Ice some good friends over there. Give her loyal and valuable support, not only now, but always. Amen.

He devleped really bad jaundice overnight, he isn't eating, he's lethargic, and has lost a great deal of weight. They plan on keeping him at least the next 3 days. This evening my husband's nephew passed away. Joshua was the 4th of 6 children, and would have been 5 years old later on this month. He was behind a vehicle playing and when they went to pull out didn't see him. He was taken to the ER where they worked on him for over an hour but were unable to save him. Please keep the family in your prayers, especially his poor mother. I am heartbroken and I can only imagine how she is feeling right now. I know that they would appreciate any prayers you can offer, and it will help carry them through this terrible time.

+Lord, where do I begin? You call the children to Yourself, it is true. Still, a loss like this is so hard. How we wish to have him with us too! Love Him, Lord, and look kindly on him. Prayer for Vocations
O Holy Spirit, Spirit of wisdom and divine love, impart Your knowledge, understanding, and counsel to youth that they may know the vocation wherein they can best serve God. Give them courage and strength to follow God's holy will. Guide their uncertain steps, strengthen their resolutions, shield their chastity, fashion their minds, conquer their hearts, and lead them to the vineyards where they will labor in God's holy service.

Lead Us To You, Jesus

Lord, pray for us sinners that we may see and find in ourselves what we see and find in you. Help us to love you and to serve you first and to put ourselves last. Guide our hearts to you, Jesus, and lead us to your Father. Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto thine! St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us! Amen!
